The heaviest door in your building is a bin lid.

For older residents and residents with disabilities, a communal euro bin lid is genuinely hard work. At one retirement development, a resident damaged her arm trying to lift one, logged as an accident report. She was lucky. The lid was not the problem that day; the weight was.

Residents who can’t lift the lid leave the black bag beside the bin. Then it’s the manager’s job.

One hand. No effort. Closes itself.

A steel counterweight, fully enclosed for safety, balances the weight of the bin lid. Pull gently and the lid glides open. Touch it and it closes on its own, slowly, so it can never fall back and cause injury. No motor. No button. No power supply.

Build: Manufactured from mild steel square tube and flat bar, MIG-welded, finished in yellow powder coat. Designed with safety as the first priority.

Built by someone who’s stood in your bin room

David Macdonald spent 20 years with FirstPort: as a development manager, a relief manager covering sites across his region, a trainer of house managers for over seven years, and finally an area property manager responsible for 26 developments. Across his career he worked in more than 150.

He watched the same scene play out for years: a resident who couldn’t lift the bin lid, a bag left on the floor, a manager quietly dealing with it. After a resident hurt her arm on a lid, he built the answer himself.

The gogo LIFTER is now installed in more than 60 FirstPort developments, with excellent feedback from managers and residents alike.

08 / Fitting

Fitted to your wall, not to your budget

The gogo LIFTER arrives as a complete kit and mounts to the refuse room wall: a straightforward nine-step installation with all fixings supplied. Recommended mounting height is no less than 1.90 metres. An additional hasp is supplied so a second bin can be swapped in when the first becomes full.

Maintenance schedule

Inspect the cord annually and replace if worn. That’s it.
